Where to Eat in Prescott: Our Favorite Spots

June 5, 2026 · The Owners

Prescott punches well above its weight for food — historic saloons, wood-fired pizza, creekside tapas, and cowboy breakfasts. Here's where to eat downtown.

For a town its size, Prescott eats very well — and the best part is that almost all of it is packed into a few walkable blocks around the Courthouse Plaza. Here are the spots we send guests to.

Downtown classics

  • The Palace — the grande dame of Whiskey Row. Arizona’s oldest frontier saloon (1877) is now a steakhouse with a serious sense of history — Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday drank here. Come for the atmosphere as much as the steak.
  • Bill’s Pizza — Prescott’s beloved wood-fired pizza, right on the plaza. Our full love letter is here.
  • El Gato Azul — a charming creekside bistro a few blocks off the square, famous for its long list of tapas (small plates) and a lovely patio. Great for a relaxed, graze-y dinner.

Breakfast, coffee & casual

Mornings are for a hearty cowboy-style breakfast at one of the downtown cafés, or a good cup of coffee on the plaza before you hit the trails. You’ll also find solid Italian, a few brewpubs pouring local beer, and plenty of casual spots for a post-hike burger.

A few tips

  • Weekends and event nights get busy — if you’ve got your heart set on a sit-down dinner, reserve ahead, especially in summer.
  • Park once. Downtown is walkable, so leave the car and wander between the plaza, Whiskey Row, and the side streets.
  • Pair dinner with a stroll around Courthouse Plaza — often there’s live music on the bandstand.

Eat your way through downtown, then drive 15 quiet minutes home to your cabin in the Groom Creek pines. Check availability.
